design process

At Courtney St. John Studio, it is the intent to facilitate a fully developed and integrated design collaboration driven by the client's wishes and needs for their spaces. Be it new construction, remodel, or simply a reimagining, the clients vision of how they intend to utilize their space and live within their space will ultimately steer the design choices. Through a process of conscious consideration with our clients, we can tailor the design approach to emphasize elements, materials, and finishes that, in the end, will produce a space that is impactful and most importantly, as intended.

phases

Being well versed in the sequencing needs of construction and best practices from a design standpoint we like to follow our design processes and methodologies to ensure a successful project for not only our design, but also the architect, contractor, trades people, and the client's expectations as well. A heavy emphasis will be placed on front end coordination and follow through.

design development

This is our first chance to start imaging what can become of the space. Starting with the Initial consultation that will likely render the basis for the early concept drawings, we will phase into material presentations and selections and eventually a look at feasibilities in coordination with the architect's team and the builder.

Construction Documentation

Our collaborative effort will progress to produce the final Construction Documents, including necessary drawings/ elevations, specifications, and schedules to provide the design and construction teams with a well-coordinated set of documents.

Furniture Design and Final Installation

As your space takes shape in real time, we will be sourcing the final furniture and fixture pieces from a vast array of suppliers, vendors, and craftspeople in anticipation of achieving an on schedule Final Install Date.
